Zeynep Tufekci
Zeynep Tufekci, the Henry G. Bryant Professor of Sociology and Public Affairs at Princeton University and a New York Times opinion writer. She is known for her sociological analysis of the intricate relationship between science, technology, and society, focusing especially on the societal implications of emerging technologies including the internet and artificial intelligence. She was a 2022 Pulitzer Prize finalist for her commentary on the COVID-19 pandemic. Her book Twitter and Tear Gas: The Power and Fragility of Networked Protest, provided a critical examination of the public sphere in the digital era. She is currently working on a book on the social implications of artificial intelligence as well as directing the AI and Society research lab in the Department of Sociology at Princeton.
